“I have hardly anything in common with myself and should stand very
quietly in a corner, content that i can breathe.”

Background/Story 01
I dance in this house, a space of tears and sweats, time and effort. Fingers lingered between my dress, spinning from this corner to another. How long have I been here? I do not know. I held up my arms and hopped along the corridor. The rough surface of the wall scratched my body every time I turned. The old wallpaper is peeling off. Layer by layer, time by time, step by step, just as the pain building in those pointe shoes. A few pieces shattered on my palm. I let it fall along the hallway as I continued my dancing journey.
N21 started based on this imaginary story of a ballerina. A girl dancing in this shabby house which the set idea comes from the work of Ira Aschermair. The time here is abstract but it can be told by the looks of the wallpaper.

Fabric & Detail 01
A few floral prints were made to replicate the vintage wallpaper of the house. They were then torn into pieces and rearranged into a new print which express the features of the wall.

The nature of the shabby wallpaper is shown on the garment by adding deconstructed elements finishing with raw edges.

The pointe shoes - showing the time and effort of the ballerina. Knots and twisted ribbons are used to symbolise the dancer’s vision.

The detail on the skirt is inspired by the curtain blinds in the vintage set, an extension of our imaginary house.
